Education

I have a bachelors degree in elementary education and special education (learning disabilities) K-12 license from UW-Oshkosh. I have taught elementary special education for 7 years and high school special education for 20 years. I have taken 30+ credits beyond my degree in diverse areas including: reading, writing, technology, and transition planning beyond high school.

Experience

I tutored students full time for 8 years in reading, writing, and math while my three children were young. I also tutored many students during the summer and after school. I decided to leave the classroom after 27 years and tutor full time again as I found tutoring extremely rewarding. I have seen that working one on one with students can really make a difference in their future. I worked for SRA publishing company as a teacher consultant and trainer for 5 years. This allowed me to acquire many programs with proven scientific based results that I am able to use with my students. I specialize in teaching reading to students that need to close their reading gaps. I do pre and post testing with standardized tests that show results. I have co-taught in many regular education classes: Algebra, English 9 & 10, and Social Studies. I am able to tutor high school students through these classes too. I am currently tutoring one student from MATC community college, one from MIAD, and one from UWM in various subjects.

Hobbies

I enjoy working out, watching all types of sports, cooking, listening to music, and reading. I have a special interest in reading and learning about health related issues (e.g. ADHD, Bi-polar) since I feel it affects so many students' ability to concentrate and do well in school. I am an extremely hard worker and take an active interest in the students I work with. I understand and empathize with students that struggle in school since I had this problem when I was very young. I am able to relate to students of all ages since I not only have three of my own kids, but have taught all ages of students. My diverse tutoring and teaching experiences allows me to speak very knowledgeably about your son or daughters education and the assistance I can provide.
